A very Busy January weekend

January is normally a very quiet month for me i nearly all ways only ever have 1 wedding and manage to do a lot of trials at the weekends whilst i have the opportunity.

However this weekend from Thursday evening right round to Sunday has been non stop. Thursday evening i was working till 9.30pm doing a full set of acrylics and gel polish.

Friday i headed to the Purley way Croydon for the lovely Dawn’s wedding where i done Dawn and her 2 Bridesmaids hair, Dawn Booked me from The Reigate Manor wedding fayre last January. The wedding was a 2.30 ceremony so it was not an early start and Dawn was quite laid back but being an x hairdresser herself was quite particular about her hair. However we got to know each other really well and i am pleased to say i am now the only person she trusts to do anything with her hair what a massive compliment as i get to see her again as a regular client. The bridesmaids went for chunky plaits and curls and the bride having short hair had a blow dry style and a lot of back combing and hairspray. We had a fabulous morning and the photographer was really happy we got done so early leaving time for some shots before the wedding. Friday did not finish there either i then had a lash lift to do in the evening so again worked till 9.30pm.

Saturday again was not an early start as my lovely bride Louise had a 3pm service and i was only doing her make up. So after a nice easy start to the day i headed to Louise’s friend’s house in Redhill where she was getting ready. I have got to know Louise really well as she actually booked me back in 2015 but due to a few family reason’s had to postpone but finally walked down the aisle in 2019. Louise opted for the airbrush make up with quite a natural eye colour but she loved the salon system lashes and a flick with liquid liner. Louise also opted for a red lip not something i normally do for a bride but i have to say it really worked with the overall look and she looked amazing. After i finished the wedding i fitted in a bridal trial for one of my April Brides and even took another 2020 booking.

Now normally that would be weekend done but This Sunday was also The Sussex wedding fayre at The Hawth in Crawley. And i was on Model Make up Duties. So i was up and out early to do 5 Models make up for the catwalk show. Then i exhibited at the fayre till 4 pm. The Fayre is all ways a busy one and as of now i have 1 confirmed booking all ready with hopefully more to come.

And that is it thankfully as i am now shattered but its been a great weekend with happy brides and brides to be what a great start to 2019 for ABWE long may it continue love to all and thanks for taking the time to read and no to sign off and enjoy the rest of whats left of this weekend

First wedding of 2019

My first bride of 2019 was Amanda. Amanda contacted me via Facebook a month before her wedding in need of a makeup artist. Luckily being January I had a very quiet month with only 2 other weddings booked so had her date available 4th January.

Of course being a month before her big day we needed to fit in a trial which was a pretty mean feat being my december was crammed with work and so was Amanda’s. Luckily we agreed on her trial date being the 28th December that period between christmas and new years where no one knows what day of the week it is. So Amanda came in with her lovely daughter and we agreed airbrush was going to be amazing for her. We decided on a small pair of lashes which Amanda loved.

So The next time I saw her was on the wedding morning January 4th at The Grand Hotel Eastbourne. Never worked at this venue before and my first thoughts when I turned up was wow. It was a very bright if little bit chilly morning but dry which is what the bride wanted.

View from The Grand, Eastbourne

I went and found Amanda in her suite which was just as wow as I had imagined with an amazing view of the sea. I quickly set to work on the makeup for the bride and 2 bridesmaids. Then Amanda’s friend walked in and requested some lashes as did her mother in law. So I ended up doing more than intended.

The morning went very fast and Amanda got in to her gorgeous dress and looked amazing as did her bridesmaids.

It was a massive pleasure being part of this big day and my first wedding of the year was lovely and calm. And Amanda the perfect bride. I hope you and your husband have the best honeymoon in the USA enjoy the lovely weather and massive congratulations.

Thanks for stopping by to read this, catch you all again soon…..Claire x

Another Three

Well last week being half term always  throws up issues with the kid’s being off and as it’s the middle of wedding season last week was no different. I had a busy week of trials the finished off with another three weddings.

The first of which was Simone’s on Friday. Simone had managed to find me via Hitched at the end of last year, and after a 20 minute chat & quote she booked me. My arrival time was 7am in Cheam at her mum’s house, and as there were 5 bridesmaids, the brides mum, as well as Simone, to get through an early start was required. The Morning passed very fast and I managed to get them all done on time with a bit of help from an MUA (Make Up Artist) friend. Simone went for the classic curly half up half down for her hair and for her make up she had Airbrush foundation with silvers and sparkles for her eye colour. I managed to finish at around about midday and headed home to put my feet up for the afternoon.

After a very busy Friday, Saturday was even more so. I started again at 7 am for Kerry in Cowfold, I had only been booked for hair so it was not such a big job but there were a few of them to do. I must say the morning flew past and I had a lovely time getting everyone ready at Kerry’s house, which is small but lovely, so with a few of  us in there it was a tad cosy. Kerry again went for the classic half up half down but with more of a wave than a curl. I finished in Cowfold at about 10 am and then headed to Crawley.

So on to Hannah who was getting ready at the Europa Gatwick, where she was to have her reception after the wedding at St Margaret’s Church in Ifield . After a fairly fast 20 minute drive I arrived there at about 10:25am and went straight up to the room to be met by all the bridesmaid’s and Hannah. After getting started the day seemed to pass so quickly as I had a wonderful time getting Hannah and her mum ready with their hair and make up, plus 2 bridesmaids make up on top of that. Hannah went for a lovely up do with a bit of height on top it, which I have to say looked stunning, and to complete the look we went for a very nice smokey eye effect which showed up really well on her. Once she was in her dress she looked a million dollars. The wedding was a 3 pm so they left for the church at 2:30pm- ish.

It has been another incredibly busy weekend and I didn’t stop on Sunday with more trial’s. So today I have had a much needed day off, ready for another busy week.

Catch up again sometime soon.

Treble Wedding Weekend

Bank holiday weekends are always busy and this one was no exception as I had a treble wedding weekend, starting with the wedding of Selina & Paul where I was hired to do the hair and make up for the bride and all three bridesmaids.

The wedding was at The Roebuck Hotel over on the glorious Ashdown Forest and as the wedding was at 2pm I had to be there ready to get started by 7am.

It was a pleasurable, calm and relaxed atmosphere ahead of the wedding which is always a nice atmosphere to work in. The bride had a lovely barrel curl up-do which really suited her and looked very elegant. Everything ran to time perfectly and the girls all looked stunning by the time I had finished.

From there I had to make my way across to Crawley for 12:30pm to then start on Stacy and Craig’s wedding where I had just the Bride’s hair and make up to do.

Stacy went for a curly half up, half down do, which is very popular at the moment and one I love doing a lot as I get to use my Babyliss Pro Hair Curler, which is a fantastic piece of equipment. It was a very relaxed wedding, and as I left at 2:15pm, Stacy was a figure of calm but also a figure of beauty, I hope the rest of their day went really well. I’m sure to find out how things went when we meet again later this year at Jessica & Kevin’s wedding down in Taunton, where I will be doing the hair and make up and my hubby will be doing the photography, because Stacy is Kevin’s sister.

After a busy day Saturday, my Sunday wasn’t quite as hectic but it was still just as important as I had the wedding of Sarah & Mike where I had the bride and the brides mum to do for both hair and make up.

This mornings start time was a little later than yesterday being 9am and I had the bride and her mum ready to go by midday, where by both looked stunning. At one point whilst I was doing the make up Sarah’s bridesmaid, Sam, was amazed by the Airbrush and as she had suffered quite a bad outbreak of spots she asked me if I could do her make up for her as well, of which I duly obliged. She incredibly happy with the result, as was Sarah with her hair, which was a Chignon with a bit of height at the front.

Just as I was finishing on Sarah’s wedding I had an urgent text from a lady I had done just hair for last year when she went to Ladies Day at Ascot. She was going to a wedding today as a guest and had been offered to have her hair done by a friend, who then unfortunately let her down at the last minute by being ill and so couldn’t do it any more. She asked if there was any chance I could do it, or if not if I knew anyone who could. As it happened the timings worked for me to be able to pop over to her and sort her out a curly half up, half down do with a bow, which she absolutely love and was hugely grateful for.

It was a pleasure to be able to pop over to Smallfield to help her out and a pleasure to be able to see her again, I hope she had a fab day.

Now though my weekend can wind down to a pleasurable 48 hours of pretty much nothing as I get to enjoy some time with my family for the bank holiday.

Hope to catch up soon, many thanks for dropping by.

Sarah’s Wedding

Hi All

This is my first Blog it will only be a short one.

I am going to write a blog each weekend about the weddings I do, so this one is about Sarah’s wedding.

Last weekend was a very quiet one in wedding terms for me as I only had one to do and was only doing make up. I was employed by the lovely Sarah who had also taken on Picture Passions my lovely husbands Photography Company. Sarah is a very lovely lady and is very into her pole fitness and I have to say I have never encountered such energetic ladies and very excited ones too.

Saturday 17th May was the wedding date very very hot day and I arrived to a bride and bridesmaids and lots of Whoop Whoops. I was working alongside Sarah’s Mum who is a hairdresser and was doing the bride and bridesmaid’s hair. Everything ran completely to plan and all the ladies looked stunning.

And I have to say I had terrible hay fever that day so I was very glad to get home at a lovely reasonable time and put my feet up.

So it’s now on to the next weekend where I have three weddings to do!

Catch you all later
